Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in MEA engineering college is established in the year 2005 with UG program (B.Tech) under University of Calicut with an intake of 60 students.. In 2012 the department started its PG program specializing in Power Electronics and Drives with an intake of 18 students. In 2014, the strength of student is increased to 24. From 2015 onward both UG and PG programs are under Kerala Technological University. The department is driven by a team of highly motivated, dedicated and experienced teachers supported by a strong team of lab technicians. The department has excellent infrastructural facilities including smart class rooms and well equipped laboratories. As a part of an organisation which works for the centre of excellence, we continuously motivate our students to thrive and survive the challenges of this world’s extreme competitions. We regularly update our syllabi according to the requirement of the industry so that our students are aware about the latest development in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

- Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems

Major Labs
Electrical Machines Lab
- To enable the students with the knowledge of precautionary measures to be adopted while dealing with the electrical machineries.
- To enable the students with the knowledge of electrical wiring flow diagram.
- To enable the students with the practical knowledge of handling various DC and AC electrical machines.
- To correlate the theoretical characteristics of various machines with actual machine characteristics.
- To realize the most suitable testing technique and apply on the machines and experience the knowledge.

Power Electronics Lab

Electrical Workshop Lab

- To well equip students with the knowledge of establishing various basic electric circuits and learn their functioning.
Electrical Measurements and Instrumentation Lab
- To enable the students with the knowledge of precautionary measures to be adopted while dealing with the electric power.
- To familiarize students with the knowledge of electrical wiring flow diagram.
- To make students familiar with various analog and digital electric measuring equipments.
- To enable the students to do analysis on characteristics of various measuring device operation.
Computer Lab
- Computer lab is used for teaching practical sessions of computer programming and also for language lab
- Audio-Visionary facilities help in delivering quality classes for language lab. This provides students a better way to learn spoken English
- Computer lab also enables staffs and students to access internet during college hours
Electric Drives Lab
- Students are enabled to learn the practical aspects of various special electric machines.
- Students are enabled to learn the FPGA, DSP and Micro Processor and Controller coding techniques and control.
- Students are enabled with simulation of various machines controls like vector control, PWM techniques and Space Vector Modulation and other modulation techniques.

Seminar Hall
Seminar hall contains LCD Projector, Sound system, Public addressing system, and comfortable furniture, elevated and decorated platform well suited to present seminars, project works and other educational achievements of the students. It has a total seating capacity of 100.
Lecture Halls
The department has 7 lecture halls and a drawing room. Projector facility is available in 3 classes for delivering quality lectures and for presenting seminars. The lecture halls have a seating capacity for more than 70 students. Classes are also provided with elevated platform for teachers.
Department Association-Ignited Minds (IGMI)
IGMI is the association of Electrical & electronics department established in 2006. The association conducted numerous programs over the span of 10 years. IGMI has made the college proud by hosting technical program like Elecspire, Luminire, Synergy and many more and also made its mark in the inter college fest ‘Darshan 12’ by hosting a public awareness campaign ‘SAVE POWER’ Activities includes technical and non- technical which empower EEE students with skills and knowledge

IEEE Student Branch chapter
IEEE Student Branch chapter of MEA Engineering college was established in 2011 with Mr. Haneesh Babu K.T. , HOD EEE as the founder counselor and Mr. Mobi Mathew (EEE student) as first chairman. Since its inception, the flag of MEA IEEE SB chapter flew high in the sky with the variety of events it organized and with active participation of its members in various section level and international events. Under the student branch there are two society chapters (Industry applications society and Computer society) and one affinity group (Women in Engineering ). MEA IEEE Student Branch have members from all the departments (CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, ME, CE). Currently Mr. Ajmal K. T (Assistant Professor, EEE Department) is the counselor of SB. Mr. Hisham Thelhath of ECE department is the chairman.
MEA IEEE Student Branch has played a major role in molding the technical powers of the students with in the College. The student Branch hosted technical managerial and other intra College and inter College IEEE events like Novista’12 (IEEE LINK Camp 12 & F2F), ICCCES’14, Festeria’14.,Microsoft boot camp ,various workshops and tech talks during these years.
Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter
IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS) CHAPTER of MEA Engineering College was officially inaugurated by Dr.Blake Llyod (IEEE IAS President) in presence of Dr.Peter Magyar (IEEE IAS CMD Chair) on 21st November 2014. Mr.Ajmal K. T., Assistant Professor, EEE Department is the current adviser of the society chapter. The chapter organizes various events like workshops, seminars and Industrial visits. Four student s of SB chapter got opportunity to attend the annual general meeting held at USA.

Workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics”
A Workshop was organised by IGMI in association with ITC ,an initiation of India tech,IIT Bombay on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Robotics’, conducted on 15th &16th March 2019. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. V H Abdul Salam, Director of MEAEC, Prof. Subeekrishna M P, Faculty Advisor of IGMI welcomed the gathering and the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Sakker Hussain C K, (HOD Incharge, Dept.of EEE). The function is followed by the felicitations of Mr. Zubair C K, Administrative Manager, MEAEC and Prof. Haneesh Babu K T, Vice principal of MEAEC. The program was enriched with the presence of Prof. Dr. O. Darshana (HOD, Dept. of CE), Prof. Dr . Raji C G (HOD, Dept. of IT) and other faculty members and 74 participants.
Workshop on “Domestic Maintenance Engineer”
A Workshop was organised by IGMI in association with NSS unit of MEAEC on ‘Domestic maintenance Engineer’ for the students of our college, conducted on 24th November 2018. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Haneesh Babu K T, Vice principal of MEAEC. Prof. Subeekrishna M P, Faculty advisor of IGMI welcomed the gathering and the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Febina Beevi P, (HOD,Dept. of EEE). The workshop gave a clear idea to the students about the various problems and the solving techniques associated with household equipments. The sessions were handled by Mr. Abhiraj C, Mr. Rahul E P, Mr. Ashiq Salam P P, Mr. Muhammed Shibili O and Mr. Nishad N P (S7 EEE students).
Power Quiz 2018
College Level Power Quiz Competition was organised by department of EEE in association with KSEB Officers Association, conducted on 8th November 2018 at EEE department Seminar Hall. Prof. Haneesh Babu K T, Vice Principal of MEAEC welcomed the gathering. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Murali, Asst. Engineer, 110KV Substation, Perinthalmanna. 57 students were participated in the program from all semesters. Mr. Arun Babu and Mr. Muhammed Saleek won the first and second price respectively. The program ended up with vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Subeekrishna M P, Faculty Advisor of IGMI.

The EEE association current year activity inaugural function along with the inauguration of a technical talk series “illume’18” was organized by the students & staff of the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, conducted on 23rd October 2018 at main seminar hall. “illume’18” was inaugurated by the chief guest of the event Padma Shri. M C Duthan, former director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) and the present scientific advisor to Chief Minister of Kerala.
Prof. Subeekrishna M P, Faculty advisor of IGMI welcomed the gathering and the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Febina Beevi P, HOD (Dept. of EEE). The program was enriched by the presence of Dr. Rajin M Linus, Principal of MEAEC, Dr. V H Abdul Salam, Director, Prof. Haneesh Babu K T, Vice Principal, Mr. Zubair C K, Administrative Manager and HODs of various departments.
After the inauguration session, a technical talk on ‘Role of Electrical Engineering in Space Research’ was delivered by Padma Shri. M C Duthan.
District Level “Technical Seminar Competition”
District Level Technical Seminar Competition was organised by department of EEE in association with KSEB Engineers association, conducted on 20th march 2018.Prof. Dr. O. Asokan, HOD, EEE welcomed the gathering and the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Rajin M Linus, Principal of MEAEC. The event was inaugurated by Er. Josh, Executive engineer, KSEB. National Level Workshop on “Computer Aided Design of Electrical Systems”
National Level Workshop on Computer Aided Design of Electrical systems was organised by department of EEE in association with IEEE PES Kerala chapter, conducted on 16th & 17th February 2018. The event was inaugurated by Er. Hareendralal, Honourable chairman of IEEE PES Kerala chapter and also the Director of Anantha Gangah Institute of Engineers, Thiruvananthapuram. Prof. Dr. O Asokan welcomed the gathering and the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Haneesh Babu, Vice principal of MEAEC and vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Subeekrishna M P, Faculty Advisor of IGMI.

The EEE association inaugural function “AVOLTA’17” was organized by the students & staff of the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, conducted on 19thOctober 2017 at college auditorium.
