Brief About
Department of Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering started in the year 2011 and the first batch of students passed out in the year 2015. The Department offers undergraduate courses in Civil Engineering. In all, there are around 276 students in undergraduate programme. It has faculty with expertise in diverse fields. Presently, the department has 18 qualified sincere and dedicated teaching faculty members. The Department has established a state of the art experimental facilities and laboratories in different fields of Civil Engineering. The Department strongly believes in continuous efforts to strive for excellence by exploring new frontiers of knowledge, imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students, and conducting high-quality research.
Message from HoD
The department of civil engineering at the MEA Engineering College offers an eight-semester course leading to B.Tech degree of the APJAK Technological University. The department is also offering professional consultancy in civil engineering to the needy clients in the field. It has a two-dozen strong well-qualified, dedicated, sincere and dynamic faculty as well as technical staff in different areas of specialization. Department takes the moral and social responsibility to imbibe the state of the art technological information to the students, the harbingers for tomorrow’s nation building. Traditionally, civil engineering has been catering to the basic needs of the civil society and for millennia engineering meant only civil engineering to the public at large. Keeping this legacy, we simply do not produce engineers but shape a new generation of social engineers, with commitment and concern for the marginalised human beings. The faculty transfer their knowledge and expertise to the students by means of latest teaching aids to mould them to be competent in the fast changing information age. In order to promote the social commitment, leadership qualities and organisational skills beyond the curricular activities, students are encouraged to perform co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within and outside the college. The department is taking effort to develop entrepreneurial skills in students, so that they would drive the spirit of growth of our economy and would be able to generate employment opportunities for other qualified and skilled youth also. The strong bond between students and faculty members is remarkable and help our students to show meritorious performance in academics, technical, sports and cultural activities at institutional and University level. We have a serene campus in the mofussil outskirts, away from the din and bustle of the restless city. The students have a real life here, not just a campus. Please visit us to feel a change.

Innovative Teaching & Learning Method
ICT Enabled Lectures
Mobile learning with PPT Lectures is an effective tool for delivering lectures, particularly when used in combination with other teaching methods such as discussions, activities, and assessments. These lectures allow faculties to organize and structure their content in a structured, logical and coherent way with visual aids which makes it easier to follow for students. This also improved the consistency and time management of lectures. PPT lectures can be easily shared with students through online platforms or email which makes it more accessible for students to review the material at their own pace anywhere and anytime.
Flipped Classrooms
In a flipped classroom, ICT facilitates the distribution of lecture materials and supports communication and collaboration among students. Flipped Classrooms promote active learning through increased student engagement and participation. Personalized learning experiences with high flexibility provide a dynamic learning environment for students involving active discussions, group work, and problem-solving.
Seminar
Seminar is a commonly used method in almost all subjects. It has the function of bringing together small groups for recurring meetings, focusing each time on some particular subject, in which everyone present is requested to participate.
Seminar classes are meant to be interactive, with students participating in a dialogue rather than just listening to a professor and taking notes. Because of this, seminar classes are great for engaging with complex ideas.
This method helps the students not only for learning the subject but it boosts several of their skills like teaching skill, improves confidence while talking to an audience. It also helps the students to understand others perspectives and latest information, and a good way of networking.
