The Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Development Cell (IEDC)

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) of MEA Engineering College (MEAEC) has been established in 2016 under Kerala Startup Mission which is the pioneer champion among incubators which functions with a vision to support and nurture the startups in the state of Kerala, with the objective of generating, nurturing and promoting the spirit of entrepreneurial culture among the youth of our college.
The mission of the IEDCs is to “develop institutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in academic institutions to foster growth of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the faculty and students”.
The IEDC is a network hub for students aspiring to be entrepreneurs which not only enhances the entrepreneurial skills but also the teamwork skills of students as a part of its mentorship. Mentoring the students at an early stage by giving proper direction and necessary exposure would be a key factor for converting technical ideas or projects into viable business plans.
The MEA IEDC has jumped so many hurdles in cultivating entrepreneurial temper and has succeeded in carving a niche for itself. The cell has organized a large number of events since its inception in the year 2016 such as workshops by renowned firms from different domains of expertise, competitions of different genre, various exhibitions, faculty development programs and entrepreneurial talks by high profile entrepreneurs across India. These programs have witnessed a healthy participation from students of MEAEC and from other colleges too. The success of these events has boosted the confidence of students and has led to the registration of start-ups in various fields.
MEAEC also has an Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) formed in the year 2014 recognized by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Kerala.

YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS SUMMIT Yes! | 2017
YES 2017
Government of Kerala (GoK) has been, for the past few years, intensifying efforts to transform the Kerala into an enterprise driven state by encouraging investors from within the state. This multi-pronged effort aims at stemming the brain drain from the state; instil an entrepreneurial mind set amongst students and youth enabling them to become job creators rather than job seekers and to create an ideal eco-system for start-ups. The prime objective of Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES) – the flagship event by KSIDC is to foster the growth of entrepreneurship in young minds, and promoting an enabling environment for entrepreneurship across all sectors. The event showcases the existing facilities and support services available to prospective young entrepreneurs in the State and also helps to orient and sensitize the youth on the entrepreneurial possibilities and the investment avenues available for creating more employment.
