Department of Computer Science & Engineering

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering of MEA Engineering College was established in 2002 by the affiliation of University of Calicut. The Department is now affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (APJKTU). Over the years, the department has developed to become a center of excellence providing in-depth technical knowledge and opportunities for innovation and research with dedicated faculties & well-equipped workstations. The department is a certified Microsoft IT Academy Partner and through the industry academia interactive, the departments strive to be abreast of rapid advances.

The curriculum in B.Tech. Computer Engineering lays emphasis on design and development of both hardware and software, in addition to software packages. Miniaturization in computer technology, audio-video and image processing, storage and retrieval of data from databases, compiler construction, Operating systems design, computer graphics, computer architecture, microprocessors based design are also the important components of the curriculum.

Presently, the department has six diverse laboratories. This includes a PG & Research lab and common computing labs. Each lab is designed to accommodate a minimum of 35 students per session and has been equipped with state of the art computer systems that total 200+ computers with necessary peripherals.

Programme Educational Objectives(PEO): B. Tech – CSE

  1. Work productively as Computer Engineers by bringing the physical, analytical and computational approaches to bear on the challenges they take on, abstracting essential structure, recognizing sources of uncertainty, and applying appropriate models, technical tools, and evaluations to develop their solutions.
  2. To inculcate group work and team management skills with cross-cultural etiquettes, promoting knowledge transfer leading to conceptualization and delivery of projects with varied complexity through strong technical, communication and entrepreneurial skills.
  3. To develop abilities and talents leading to creativity and productivity of student graduates including supportive and leadership roles in multidisciplinary domain.
  4. Participate in life-long learning through the successful completion of advanced degrees, continuing education, certifications and/or other professional developments.
  5. To bring harness with society by sensitizing the students towards issues of social relevance and to introduce them to professional ethics and practice.
